Automation Technician 40 hours per week

General Purpose

Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining automation systems to ensure smooth operation in a fast-growing manufacturing facility.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical circuit and system failures on assembly machines and make the necessary repairs.
  • Utilize machine blueprints to trace multiple interconnected wire circuits from sensors, to/from/through terminations blocks to/from PLC's. Diagnose failures in the circuits and/or PLC's and make the necessary repairs.
  • Assess, diagnose and make necessary mechanical repairs to assembly machines.
  • Respond quickly to all service requests and efficiently troubleshoot and repair electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Communicate estimated timelines for repairs to those impacted.
  • Prepare assembly machine changeover parts and supplies as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on assembly machines and infrastructure systems per PM schedules.
  • Conduct tests and assessments of new systems and repairs to ensure quality.
  • Ensure the calibration of all machines and maintenance after calibration.
  • Assemble and install electrical panels, wire harnesses, and other electrical equipment.
  • Make recommendations concerning upgrades and changes, where required, for improved process control.
  • Install new equipment and wiring to expand infrastructure as needed.
  • Train production personnel on equipment operation.
  • Log all services and report progress to management.
  • Utilize and store all equipment properly.
  • Support and adhere to all system procedures and company policies/procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow all safety regulations.
  • Report all accidents or near misses.
  • Adhere to all environmental and quality standards.
  • Any other tasks that may be necessary to meet the production schedule in a safe and efficient manner.

Position Differentiation by Level

Level 1 - Pay Range: $30.00 - $35.00

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field, or 2-5 years experience in related field

Knowledge/Skills/Duties:

  • Basic computer skills (Excel and Word)
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical drawings
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be a team player

Level 2 - Pay Range: $35.00 - $38.00

Education/Experience:

  • 5-9 years of hands-on experience in electronics and instrumentation and skilled in troubleshooting automation systems

Knowledge/Skills/Duties:

  • Same as level 1
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve
  • Must be versatile in their maintenance ability

Level 3 - Pay Range: $38.00 - $42.00

Education/Experience:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in electronics and instrumentation and skilled in troubleshooting automation systems

Knowledge/Skills/Duties:

  • Same as level 2
